Sewing Machine Repair Technician

Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines in Kennewick, WA is calling all handy workers to apply to join our amazing team as a full-time Sewing Machine Repair Technician!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SANDY’S FABRICS & MACHINES REPAIR TECHNICIAN

As a Repair Technician at Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines, your main responsibility will be to repair and maintain sewing machines.

The Repair Technician is responsible for the diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of all sewing products in the Technical Services department. Along with the repair of these products, the Repair Technician is responsible for providing technical support to our retail customers in a timely and positive manner.

Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines is the regional service department for all six of our sewing machine brands and has the most qualified and experienced technician on the West Coast! New hires in our Service Department go through a regimen of hands-on training via a technician mentor as well as virtual or onsite vendor training. The team at Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines is a family and helps each new hire gain the knowledge needed to be a productive and successful repair technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Evaluate machines for repair or replacement.
  • Verify warranty and service contract coverages, developing estimates, writing repair orders and maintaining customer records.
  • Inspect and determine repair requirements of sewing and embroidery machines; if appropriate request additional estimates, replace defective parts, and process paperwork.
  • Represent the store in a positive manner, providing exceptional personalized service to our customers.
  • Test products to ensure consumer satisfaction and compliance with the factory specifications.
  • Identify and communicate product quality issues.
  • Provide concise, accurate, and sufficiently detailed data to properly track history and trends.
  • Provide technical phone support to retail customers and/or dealers on machine repair issues.
  • Be able to provide delivery and service of sewing machines, embroidery machines, ten needle machines and longarm quilting machines for in home set-up and company events.
  • Some travel may be required.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • 2+ years of mechanical and electronic experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret documents such as service manuals, parts catalogs, and operating & maintenance instructions.
  • Previous sewing machine repair a plus; electronics or electrical education a plus.
  • Familiarity with computers including Windows, Excel and using email.
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Experience performing maintenance on sewing machines would be a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as a familiarity with Sharepoint, is preferred. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
