Machine Embroidery 101

Are you ready to start making beautiful machine embroidery projects but don't quite know where to start? If you are confused when you see things like, "SF101, light weight mesh stabilizer, color sorting, bobbin thread, and on and on. Come take this class!  Don't quite know what all those buttons are for on your machine? Come take this class! Can't figure out the directions on your embroidery design? Come take this class! 

This class will have two parts; lecture and practical. In other words, sewing and talking. I will have class handouts for you, so you do not have to take too many notes. 

This class will cover the basics of machine embroidery, and you will be able to have a better understanding of the basics which will allow you to use the many designs available for embroidering that don’t have many or any step-by-step instructions or pictures. 

We will also explore the many and varied tools and equipment available for machine embroidery and their uses. 

In this class, we will do two projects. One will be a terry towel with a simple applique design on it. The samples show a bunny with a bow or a heart with a bow. You may choose either one. The design is from Designs by Juju. Here are the links to both: Heart with Bow or Easter Bunny Silhouette.  

You will need to purchase and download one of these designs onto a USB stick for class. 

Our second project will be on a regular tea towel. You can use any color you like. We will choose a design from the built-in designs available on your machine. Please check them out before class. A decorative font would be a good choice. You want a design that is simple; no more than 3-4 thread changes. 

Both projects will be made in your 5 x 7 embroidery hoop.
