Learn Westalee Ruler work in 2 days. Learn guided quilting techniques using Westalee Rulers and Templates on your domestic sewing machine. The instructor will be using lectures and demos to teach you to successfully use the rulers to quilt large or small projects at home on your sewing machine.
During this class students will be making a wool mug rug with the rulers to take home.
Learn how to properly set your machine up to use Westalee Rulers and Templates. These intructions will include attaching the quilting foot to your machine for use with the rulers, setting your tension and planning a design. Learn how to use the cross hair ruler to draw metered lines for use with the rulers, hold the rulers on the fabric using the stable tape, and stitch around the rulers for the designs. You will learn several different techniques with the rulers to make a number of designs and how to create your own.
It is would be beneficial but not mandatory to take the "Free Motion Quilting Class" as it is helpful to learn quilt stitching techniques prior to using the rulers. It is also strongly recommended that you have an extension table for your sewing machine to use these rulers. You will need a flat surface as big as the block you are working on. Have a good working knowledge of the sewing machine you are using because you will have to set and adjust tension, drop your feed dogs and use a free motion setting to use the rulers.
